All You Need to Know About CS:GO

CS:GO is a first-person shooter game with multiple players who compete with other gamers or at esport online tournaments. Developed by both Valve Corp and Hidden Path Entertainment, the fourth game in the title’s series is the basis of the Majors, one of the world’s most recognized esports tournaments.

Stockholm’s Major marked the beginning of Major competitions after a 2-year pause in in-person play due to the pandemic. Another event, One Rio Major ESL, was postponed in May 2020 and canceled by September, leaving online esports championships as the only way to compete.

In 2022, PGL will host the first CS:GO Major, which offers competitors a prize pool of $1 million. Organizers plan to host the event May 9 thru May 22 in Antwerp Belgium. Spectators may begin viewing the competition in the arena, Antwerps Sportpaleis, when the gamers reach the playoffs. With a seating capacity of 23,000, there’s enough room for a large number of CS:GO enthusiasts.

As the second consecutive Major for PGL, the event is expected to rival 2021’s Stockholm Major. In October and November 2021, PGL organized the PGL Stockholm Major. As one of the biggest esports tournaments, the event vaulted Natus Vincere into history as the overall CS:GO winner, after he won every CS:GO map in the competition.

Counting on Belgium’s expansive CS:GO fanbase and gaming community, PGL is building an enjoyable experience for esport leagues, and fans who come to view the competition inside the arena. PGL expressed an eagerness to reunite players and fans at the next CS:GO Major. In a written press statement, PGL CEO Silviu Stroie noted that fans are essential to the tournament experience.

PGL CS:GO MAJOR's winning teams and biggest moment

Natus Vincere is definitely one of the top teams to watch, after winning $1 million at the 2021 PGL Major without losing a map. G2 Esports gave a good performance, winning $300,000. Heroic and Gambit Esports teams each received $140,000.

Natus Vincere

In 2009, in Dubai, Murat Zhumashevich announced the development of a new esports organization. As the financier, Zhumashevich provided the money for the team’s operations and a place for team members to train. The responsibility for developing the team’s lineup fell on starix, a pro Counter-Strike player.

By December 2009, Natus Vincere (NAVI) had created a team of top-tier players. ZeroGravity served as the manager, and the team has enjoyed extensive success in international competitions.

G2 Esports

Founded in Spain in 2014, G2 Esports aka simply G2 is located in Berlin, Germany. Players compete in a number of popular esports games, such as CS:GO, Valorant, and League of Legends. Originally called Gamers2, the organization rebranded to the name G2 Esports in 2015. The team won a number of international tournaments, including Six Invitational 2019.

It’s a major comeback, after unfortunate showing at 2016’s Mid-Season Invitational followed by an equally embarrassing performance at the World Championships. For the past few years, G2 has worked diligently to repair the team’s once stellar reputation. Emphasizing teamwork and skill, G2 is now one of the premiere esports leagues and a favorite to do well at the upcoming PGL Major.

Gambit Esports

Gambit Esports is an esports club from Russia, formerly of Gambit Gaming. It’s now owned by MTS, a telecom company. Established in 2013, the organization acquired the roster of Moscow Five. By 2016, Gambit secured a CS:GO roster made up of gamers formerly from the HellRaisers. After acquiring a number of high-profile players, the team qualified for the 2016 MLG Columbus, beating both Cloud9 and Renegades in an offline qualifying event.

The team later placed 9-12th during the main tournament. In Nov. 2016, Gambit beat Team Kinguin in the finals of the Acer Predator Masters. Since the team has continued to dominate competitively in international tournaments.

Heroic

Purchased by the Nordic group, Omaken sports, Heroic has made an impressive entry into CS:GO competitions. Retaining the Heroic name, the brand is merging the PUBG roster with Heroic due to its long history.

Established in 2016, Heroic esports began with the RFRSH Entertainment, the brand that owned competition organizer BLAST and esports group, Astralis. Due to restrictions on how many groups one company may own, RFRSH chose to sell Heroic in 2018.

Where and how to bet on PGL CS:GO MAJOR?

One of the most popular CS:GO tournaments in the world is coming up. Top global teams will compete for millions. It’s the perfect opportunity to wager and add a little excitement to the viewing action. It’s easiest to bet online by depositing funds with a licensed and reputable sportsbook.

Some of the most popular sites for betting are listed below. Each bookmaker has its own benefits. Some sportsbooks offer favorable cs:go betting odds, analysis, and historical data on wins:

  • 1xBet
  • 22Bet
  • ComeOn
  • Betsson
  • 888Casino
  • LeoVegas
  • 10bet
  • Mr Green
  • William Hill

What is the best strategy to bet on this tournament?

Understanding the odds is crucial for betting on esport tournaments. It’s hard to predict the favorite without odds, but historical wins are a positive indication that a team will perform well. Some bookmakers offer a list of esports tournaments to consider.

At PGL Major, only a few teams are favored to win it all. In 2021, Natus Vincere and Gambit outperformed opposing teams. Fans expect the same stellar game play in 2022.

Regional qualifying matches give an indication of which teams are likely to do well. The gap in skills between the best teams and teams who are hoping for a miracle is wide. As not all sites give odds, a gambler must look for a way to choose likely winners. Watching the start of the tournament may help in forming a betting strategy.

Teams playing well may continue to do so. However, in international tournaments skill and talent meet grit and tenacity. So, it’s hard to know who will reign as victor in the end. History has shown that top-tier gamers don’t always live up to their stellar reputations. As the 2022 PGL Major nears, both players and enthusiasts are anticipating fierce competition.
